Apr 12th, 2017 | Category: News

BURLINGTON – The 2017 Farm Safety course, featuring tractor driving labs, is open for registration through the WSU Skagit County Extension. Participants of all ages can sign up for the 2-hour classroom course and driving lab twice a week for five weeks, April 18 through May 18. Participants will meet at WSU Skagit County Extension from 6-8 p.m. for classroom instruction on Tuesdays and for a tractor driving lab on Thursdays.  The cost of the course is $25, and an additional $50 to receive certification. Certification can be obtained for students 13 years of age and above. Federal law requires those driving tractors for hire to be at least 16 years old.  An exception is if they are 14 or 15 years old and have completed a safety course like this one, or if a student is enrolled as a vocational agriculture student. Translation is available for Spanish-speaking students. To register, please contact Don McMoran at dmcmoran@wsu.edu or 360-428-4270, ext 225. The WSU Skagit County Extension is located at 11768 Westar Lane, Suite A, in Burlington.
