SAN JUAN – The San Juan Islands Agricultural Summit will take place Saturday, March 16 at the Friday Harbor Middle School from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Farmers, farm advocates and other interested residents from throughout the San Juan Islands and area are invited to attend. The event includes a keynote address from internationally-known mycologist and author Paul Stamets, summits for agricultural organizations and farm-to-school programs, roundtable with county council candidates, seed swap and more. Featured workshops include creating a seed producers co-op, leasing farmland, and growing mushrooms, among others. A locally grown lunch will be served, and the day-long event will end with a contra dance and social hour. Pre-tickets are $50 per person or $55 at the door. Display tables are available for community non-profit organizations to share information and local farms wishing to display or sell their products.
